Who Has Been To San Juan? (SJU) Going 9-24-04

Postby NycNewarkBruh » Thu Sep 23, 2004 3:25 pm

Going to San Juan for the second time this year, (was there about 4 weeks ago) wanting to know what things I can do when I get there. Last time I went to the Bacardi Factory, Plaza Las Americas, University of Puerto Rico. What other stuff can I do for the weekend while I am there. All responses are welcome.

Take a drive out to where most tourists don't go and/or go to the rainforest and experience the beauty of it all. Climb to the top of the tower and just sit buy the waterfall. Take a hike and experience the rain. It feels like needles as it rains so hard. If you have not gone to the fort in San Juan go there as well as to the cemetary next to it. It is so beautiful and all the important people from Puerto Rico are buried there and its right on the water. Have a great time. Find out if there are any "carnivals" going on at any of the other small towns. Great music, great dancing, food and you can drink rum right out on the street:)

I assume you went to 'Old San Juan.' at the tip of the peninsula, if not you must go there. The rainforest is a must too with all its waterfalls and wildlife. It official name is something like Caribbean National Forest, but the locals know it as "El Yunque." Be advised it will rain while you are there. Beautiful place though....especially while there aren't cruise ships docked with a million dumb tourist wandering around.

Thanks for the suggestions. Just got back today from SJU, got a tan, had a ball, hung out with a few natives that had "cars". Best of all, I rode first class going down there and coming back up (was upgraded). TODAY IS A GOOD DAY........

You can visit the Arecibo Telescope (Arecibo) and get pampered with a lot of information about the SETI program. (Search for extraterrestrial inteligence), also in (La Parguera) you can visit the fluorescent bay, which you can go in a boat with other people and see thru the glass floor all the sea species that this bay offers during the night, the best night is on a NO MOON, because the moon will reflect in the sea and is not worth it. Also visit El Castillo Del Morro and San Cristobal in the Old San Juan (San Juan), you can see the castle from the plane just before you land. Visit El Yunque, this is a rain forest very beautiful and you will feel in heaven, if you go south, you can go to the dry forrest in (Guanica), and go to Giligan's Island, you can take a boat from the Copamarina Hotel Area, there is a lot of signs how to go to Giligan. Also you can go to Aguadilla if you like to surf, and see and feel the nice and high waves, hope you enjoy your stay. :D
